SOUTH AFRICA'S TIMBER SPECIALISTS - SUPPLIERS OF H3 & H4 TREATED PINE & EXOTIC TIMBER

We keep a large stock of quality grade SA pine and Meranti, and also stock Balau, Garapa and H3 treated pine decking.

Our factory and warehouse is situated at Unit 6, Waterford Park, 60 peter Road in Sea Cow Lake (Springfield Park), and is adjacent to the N2 and allows very quick access from Durban, Pinetown or Umhlanga directions.

As a timber supplier specialising in external applications such as sundecks and outdoor wood products, we are able to offer advice on the most suitable material for your application which can result in immediate savings as well as long term benefits. We are one of only a limited number of timber merchants in KZN that carry a complete range of pine in every size and grade produced by South African sawmills, which helps to reduce costs where thicker top grade pine is not required. This is particularly helpful when the size of the project or order is quite large, and small savings add up quite quickly.

The three types of decking planks that we carry are Balau, Garapa and H3 treated pine, and we carry a comprehensive range of kiln dried, H3 treated pine for above ground external structural applications. Our treated timber is dry (10 – 12 % moisture content), and we can machine to order, with very short lead times.

BALAU TIMBER SUPPLIER DURBAN

Balau is a popular Malaysian hardwood timber of medium to high density, light to medium brown in colour, and is a suitable timber for exterior applications such as sundecks where durability and longevity are important criteria. As for all timbers, it requires proper care and maintenance, and must be correctly installed to prevent movement due to temperature and moisture changes. When left in its natural state, i.e. with no deck sealer applied, it will weather to a dark grey colour which can provide a rustic effect if that is the intention, and when sealed with a suitable deck sealer, it becomes a high quality and attractive floor.

GARAPA TIMBER SUPPLIER DURBAN

Garapa is a South American hardwood timber of medium to high density, light orange/brown in colour with a very smooth fine texture. As such, it is a stable, durable and very attractive timber, which has been proved to be very long lasting when used as timber decking. The decking planks are generally very straight, and the timber is easy to work with and machines to a fine, smooth finish. Garapa weighs approximately 890 to 950 kilograms per cube.

H3 TREATED PINE TIMBER SUPPLIER DURBAN

H3 treated Pine is another excellent material for timber decking, and we are one of very few companies that also re-dries the pine after it has been treated. This is an important point, as all CCA treated timber either to H2, H3 or H4 level, is very wet after it has been treated. This causes a reduction in strength caused by the wetting process, and the timber will also shrink once it has been installed and allowed to dry on its own. If installed correctly, re-dried H3 treated pine is equally long lasting to the hardwoods mentioned above, and with the high level of treatment, protection against timber rot and termite attack is guaranteed. It leaves a greenish tinge to timber and therefore is not advisable for timber where an uncoloured finish is required, however once coated with a suitable sealer gives the visual appearance of a hardwood.

Our decking is treated to SABS standards and is machined in our factory and we are thus able to machine to a specific size if required.

As an additional option, we are also able to supply pine decking which has already been sealed with deck sealer, thus eliminating the initial sanding and sealing process.
